OH ..... DISC JOCKEY THOSE


In 1946, as director of Radio Corporation, Raul Matas created "Discomania" which he defined as a musical diary after the radio report, giving life to the first program of the radiotelephony Disc Jockey Chile. (See chapter "Gallery of stars and radio stars.")

By late 1950 virtually all radio stations have programs of this type who spread the fashion hits, first Americans, then the New Wave Chilean fashion later Italian songs, and finally the Brazilian wave mid 1960.

Disc Jockey Virtually all made weekly or monthly ranking, especially in Sunday editions.

RICARDO GARCIA - "Discomania" - RADIO MINING


Ricardo Garcia started in the early 1940 as Radio discotecario Cervantes, whose studios were in an old house in Spain Avenida 91. Then, with Ernesto Merino, held its first program, "Artists Talks."

Garcia subsequently performed in several radio programs: Radio Corporation In "The Inspector Flint" in Radio Chilena, "The Ant and the magic singer Melody", and Folklore to Violeta Parra, Bulnes Radio: "The novel in the afternoon" programs and competitions.

Undoubtedly the most important activity of Ricardo Garcia was to be the continuation of the work of Raul Matas, who commissioned the show airs "Discomania" in Radio Mining, when he emigrated to America in 1955.

Since the late 50's Garcia made the evening edition of "Discomania" in Radio Bulnes. Later in

Radio Balmaceda Ricardo Garcia made the "Show color" with the performance of the figures of "La Nueva Ola Chilena."

During the decade 1970 Garcia worked for Radio Cooperativa. At this time also encouraged the dissemination and recording of "The New Chilean Song" social folk cutting through the creation of the label "Larch."

Ricardo Garcia (Osvaldo Larrea, his real name), died in Havana on June 2, 1990.



GUTIERREZ JULIO - "THE JUKEBOX" - RADIO COOPERATIVA

Julio Gutierrez worked at various stations: Prat, Santiago. Since the late 1950's Radio Cooperativa place in the "The Jukebox" where pre-registered auditors were contacted by phone to deliver their music preferences.

CONTRERAS ANTONIO - "THE PHONE CLUB - RADIO CHILENA

HUGO ORTEGA - "RIDE MUSICAL '- PACIFIC RADIO



Hugo Ortega began his program on Radio Pacific about 1955. Later in 1962 went to Radio Presidente Balmaceda.

His style was very specific, targeted primarily at women, which was "little girls" in a conversational tone and conqueror.

AGUSTIN FERNANDEZ - RADIO SANTIAGO


Agustin Fernandez Prat started in Radio in 1946. He worked at various stations : New World Mining Corporation, Agriculture, Cooperative, Santiago, Magallanes, performing varied programs: soap operas, musicals, etc.. In Santiago Radio, among other places, he created "El Club de Los Beatles.

CAMILO FERNANDEZ

Father Chilean New Wave.






While Camilo Fernandez was no speaker, or Disc Jockey, deserves special mention for his work as a journalist and commentator journals albums of the decade 1950 and also as a producer RCA musical.

also spearheaded the development of Neo Folklore Chileno, with the likes of the Four Quarters, The Four Witches, Patricio Manns, Isabel and Angel Parra, Victor Jara, Chagual Group, among others.

As a curiosity it is recalled that Camilo Fernandez recorded a duet with Luz Eliana the song "I want to stay with you", cover the success of Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme.

Camilo Fernandez died in Santiago on January 24, 2011.
